There are so many tutorials on making tombstones out there, so this will not be a step by step how to. Instead, I will write about techniques I have used to create tombstones that look as realistic as possible.

To carve the lettering into the foam, I use a hot knife similar to the one in the photo album to the left.


 Print your epitaph onto paper using a word processing document (I use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Picture It, etc.) Then attach onto foam board with straight pins. The hot knife can cut right through paper into foam to melt the outline of epitaph. Then chip away with regular X-acto knife.
